By Tianna Edwards
The countdown to Mother’s Day is on and Downtown Kingston has so many different ways to pamper mom in May!
Whether it’s a special brunch, a spa visit, or flowers, here is a curated list of a few of my favourite places downtown to spark ideas to make mom feel extra special this Mother’s Day.
Full transparency, as a mom myself, I will be sending this link to my husband for gift-giving inspiration. And if you’re a mom reading this, permission to pass the link on to your partner or kids!
Pamper Mom:
Tap into one of the many amazing day spas located downtown to pamper Mom this Mother’s Day. My advice is to just book the treatment and send her on her merry way!
Cher Mere located on Brock Street is known for their wonderful brand of products and kind and skillful team. They have a couple of special mom packages depending on your budget. Each includes more than one treatment so Mom can feel special from head to toe. Find the perfect spa package for Mom here!
Glow Skincare located on Princess is known for their expertise in skincare as well as their expansive spa retreat space. They will be offering a special to moms that are booked for facials for a free hour in the thermotherapy spa which includes a large hydrotherapy hot tub, a cold plunge pool, a sauna and a steam room. This circuit combined with a facial will have mom floating! Book a spa day for Mom here!
Annex Spa located on Princess street (entrance at the back) is one of my favourites for their skilled staff and awesome product selection. They also have the perfect package for expecting moms! I loved their Prenatal massages when I was expecting - perfect treat for all of the aches and pains that come with carrying the weight of a pregnancy. A special Baby on the Way package includes a paraffin manicure and pedicure as well! Schedule a day of pampering for Mom here!
Brunch with Mom:
For the mom that enjoys a great meal - these suggestions are for her!
AquaTerra located on King street with a perfect waterfront view and one of my favourite menus in town is hosting Afternoon Tea the weekend of Mother’s Day. The experience includes 3 tiers of sweet and savoury goodies paired with your choice of teas or mimosas. Book your Mother's Day Afternoon Tea here!
Bar Mayla located on King street is one of my favourite restaurants due to the delicious, shareable plates and beautiful decor. They are launching their Turkish breakfast in May! This new menu is sure to impress Mom. Book your reservation here!
Pan Chancho located on Princess is a downtown staple and one of my go-tos for brunch with multiple menu items that make my mouth water just thinking about them. They do not typically take reservations but the bakery is making an exception this Mother’s Day to make sure Mom doesn’t have to wait for her perfect brunch. Reservations can be made over the phone: 613-544-7790.
Shower Mom with Flowers:
It feels like flowers and Mother’s day go hand-in-hand. You can’t really go wrong with a colourful, floral display to show her how much you appreciate her!
LSP Designs is located on Wellington and they do the most beautiful arrangements. If you’re late to order a fresh bouquet, you can’t go wrong with the stunning dried bouquets and lovely vases. Order your Mother's Day arrangement here!
Mc Mahon’s House of Flowers located on Princess street is also a great place to find a lovely arrangement or plant in a perfect pot if you’re mom’s other children are her plants. Find the perfect bouquet for Mom here!
Introduce Mom to New Art:
Does she love a good print and appreciate the beauty of art? This one's for her!
The Loft located above Antique Emporium on Princess is launching “Art Party” on Thursday, May 9 with live music from 6-9. “Art Party” will be running all weekend with affordable art featuring amazing local artists and half of all inventory under $150. Watch for details here!
