Kingston WritersFest is back in 2025 with a fresh chapter, building on 16 years of celebrating the written word. More than just a reading series, KWF is a platform for dialogue, thought, and community, responding to the needs and desires of our attendees, authors, and the evolving landscape of non-profit arts.
A live literary event where celebrated and emerging authors share their latest works and the stories behind them. Audiences can expect an engaging mix of readings, discussions, and insights spanning genres; from poetry, fiction, and memoir to mysteries, politics, and more.
A special Kingston WritersFest series created for book lovers who want to dive deeper into the world of literature. These intimate, 60-minute lunch-hour sessions invite avid and curious readers to explore new genres, discover fresh perspectives, and gain insight into the style and substance of remarkable authors.
Master classes designed to inspire and support writers at every stage of their journey. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine a finished piece, these workshops cover genre-specific skills as well as broad techniques that apply across forms.

This class focuses on tools to sharpen your writing, mastering point of view, imaginative noticing, and techniques to keep characters and worlds in motion for lifelike storytelling.
Award-winning poets will craft a personalized, one-of-a-kind poem just for you—perfect for a birth, birthday, anniversary, or graduation. Share your hopes, dreams, and favourite colour, and watch as they’re transformed into a thoughtful handwritten poem, signed, dated, and ready to take home. Just $10 each or $15 framed (cash only).
This class explores ekphrasis, writing inspired by visual art. Discuss contemporary works, then create your own piece based on an image you bring.
