La Bella Beauty Bar: Kingston's New Boutique Spa
By Rosalyn Gambhir
Looking for a little self-care in your life? I've got the perfect spot to help you unwind, refresh, and glow up - introducing La Bella Beauty Bar, the newest boutique spa in downtown Kingston! Located on Queen St, this dreamy space is all about pampering with purpose, blending holistic wellness and medical aesthetics.
Meet Jillian Thompson & Her Vision
At the heart of it all is the incredibly sweet and passionate owner, Jillian Thompson, who’s on a mission to make you feel your best, inside and out.
Originally from Prince Edward County, Jillian first made her way to Kingston to attend the Esthetics program at St. Lawrence College. She quickly fell in love with the city’s charm and community. After gaining experience in the wellness industry and spending a few years away, Kingston kept calling her back, and this time, for good.
With a vision in her heart and a dream list in hand, Jillian carefully curated everything she wanted in a spa. The stars aligned when she found the perfect space in Downtown Kingston. The moment she walked in, she knew - it just felt like home. And so, La Bella Beauty Bar was born.
Beautiful Inside and Out
With a name like La Bella (which means “the beautiful” in Italian), Jillian's mission is clear: to help every guest feel beautiful inside and out. From the moment you walk through the door, it’s more than a treatment - it’s a full-on experience, designed with care, comfort, and intention.
Jillian’s approach is all about taking time. Time to unwind, recharge, and feel cared for. Her warmth and kindness radiate through every interaction, making guests feel welcomed, listened to, and pampered. Her holistic mindset isn’t just about looking good, it’s about feeling good in every sense.
She’s also created a space that reflects that perfectly - chic, calming, and full of positive energy. It even features art by local creatives like BirdGirl Arts by Sasha Jimenez French, and Vanessa Jane Martin, adding a fresh, vibrant touch.
What’s on the Menu for Services
La Bella offers an impressive lineup of services from facials using the renowned ZO Skin Health medical-grade skincare line to lashes and brows, manicures and pedicures, and relaxing massages. For those looking to enhance their glow even further, La Bella also specializes in medical aesthetics, including Botox, facial fillers, lip flips, and more. You’ll also find a thoughtfully curated selection of clean beauty products, including the Montreal-based vegan skincare line BKIND.
Must-Try Treatment: Scalp Spa Massage
But if there’s one treatment you absolutely have to try, it’s the restorative scalp spa massage. Think relaxation, tension release, and a refreshing cleanse for your scalp - it’s like a facial for your head! Warm water gently flows over your scalp while multiple brushes and massage techniques ease away stress and boost circulation (which can even help promote hair growth!). Rejuvenating for all hair types (including chemically treated hair), it’s a moment of pure bliss.
For the ultimate self-care experience, the Bella Facial and Scalp Spa package comes highly recommended. Whether you’re treating yourself, gifting a friend, or planning a mother-daughter spa day. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that truly sets La Bella apart from other spas in the city.
Favourite Local Spots
When she’s not busy being a full-time entrepreneur running her new business, you’ll find Jillian enjoying the best of Kingston life - dining at local foodie gems like Tango Nuevo, Olivea, and Casa Domenico, grabbing brunch at Lay Low Cafe, or browsing the latest styles at Heel Boy. Let’s congratulate Jillian as she’s now part of what makes downtown Kingston so special!
