Year in Review: The New & Buzz-worthy Businesses from 2024

It’s that time of year. A time when we reflect on all of the changes and growths as we countdown to fresh starts in January. Time moves quickly but luckily we have notes on some of the new places that popped up in downtown Kingston in 2024.

Looking for a baked good, sweet treat or somewhere cozy to sip a coffee? Try:
Chit Chat Café: Previously located in the Frontenac mall, this cafe at the corner of King and Johnson, is known for their friendly service and affordable, fresh breakfast and lunch items.
Columbus Cafe: This french chain can be found at Princess and Clergy and is known for their pastries and coffee.
23 & Co: Baked by the Lake and found in the same space as Nosh Bagels on Bagot street between Princess and Queen, this bakery serves the most delectable cookies with unique ingredients.
A date night or friend meet up over appetizers, cocktails or a great glass of wine? Try:
Bobbi Pecorinos: From the same owners of Olivea, find incredible wines and great bites in a cozy and beautifully designed space right across from Springer Market Square.
Mercury Bar & Lounge: Chef Paulson’s personal culinary journey is reflected in the menu of this new lounge. He brings his cultural heritage along with the influence of his experiences in Hong Kong and parts of Asia to inspire a vibrant fusion of flavours.

Rapidito Latin Market: Located between Clarence and Brock on Wellington, this shop carries items from various Latin countries and is becoming known for their welcoming service.
Brynn's Fresh Market: Located on Division between Brock and Princess, this market carries great fresh products and handy pre-made meals.
Looking for a straight razor shave with a facial steam, a deep tissue massage or lash extensions? Try:
The Barber's Philosophy: This Brand new Barbershop located on Sydenham just north of Princess offers elevated haircut and beard trim experiences.
Sol Spa: Previously known as Annex Spa, check them out for a great massage or refreshing facial.
La Bella Beauty Bar: From skincare to massage and facials, this beauty bar at the corner of Queen and Barrie street is ready to pamper you.
Tay's Beauty Bar: If you love a set of full lashes, check out Tay’s Beauty bar at the corner of Queen and Wellington street.

El Gringo: This takeout window in the alley behind Ontario street is the perfect place to check out if you appreciate authentic Mexican cuisine - scrumptious tacos and keep an eye out for Torta Thursdays!
Daal Roti: This Indian Tadka chain is located at the corner of Barrie and Queen is sure to fill your curry craving.
Tahini’s: Who doesn’t love shawarma? Find it at this new Middle Eastern spot just west of Clergy on Princess Street.

Lazy Daisies: The cutest shop to boost your serotonin and inspire updates to your home or office. Check them out just west of Montreal street on Princess.
Looking to move your body in creative ways like in an aerial class or on a Pilates reformer? Try:
Skandiflow Health & Wellness: From various flows - vinyasa, slow and strong - to aerial yoga, all levels of yogis are welcome.
