Something for everyone to enjoy!

This summer, Sydenham Street between Princess Street and Queen Street has been transformed into a vibrant pedestrian-friendly gathering space in the heart of downtown Kingston. With the street closed to traffic, Sydenham Street Commons features patio tables, a children's play zone, public art, live music, and community programming, the space is designed to bring people together and celebrate downtown all season long. Whether you're looking for a quiet place to relax or a fun activity to join, there's something happening every week at Sydenham Street Commons.

Play Zone

While you relax at a bistro table, the kids can run wild through the vibrant colours of the play structure or visit the Play Shed for games, puzzles, skipping ropes and more!

Patio Tables

Set down your shopping bags and rest your feet with a refreshing drink or delicious take out at a bistro table on Sydenham Street.

Community Programming

Throughout the summer, you can also enjoy live music performances, family-friendly activities, special events, and Saturday children's programming.

Join us for weekly programming from June 29 to August 28, featuring activities, workshops, and events at Sydenham Street Commons all summer long. Head downtown to enjoy a vibrant lineup of free, community-focused programming designed to bring people together, spark creativity, and make the most of the season outdoors.

Chair Fitness

Join us for a low-impact workout designed to improve strength, flexibility, and mobility in a supportive outdoor setting. Open to all ages and abilities, these accessible sessions use chairs for comfort and stability. Chairs will be provided.

ASL Workshop

Curious about sign language? Join Deaf host Bianca for beginner American Sign Language (ASL) workshops. Learn themed signs, practice fingerspelling, and play ASL games together!

Silent Reading

Bring your current read and enjoy an hour of quiet, uninterrupted reading beneath the colourful kites overhead. Readers of all ages are welcome.

Thursdays

4:30 - 5:30pm

BYOC (Bring Your Own Craft)

Bring your own craft and connect with fellow makers in a beautiful outdoor setting. Crafters of all skill levels and mediums are welcome. Select weeks will feature beginner-friendly tutorials, including crocheting, bracelet making, and more.

Spanish Conversation Sessions

Drop in for casual one-on-one Spanish sessions. Whether you're looking to practice your conversational skills or learn the basics from scratch, these personalized sessions offer a welcoming space to learn and improve at your own pace.
