Busker Bubbles

To support and encourage artists and performers, Downtown Kingston has introduced Busker Bubbles throughout the downtown core. These free designated spaces can be reserved ahead of time by buskers to create a vibrant and interactive environment throughout the summer.  

Secure a Busker Bubble 

To secure a busker bubble fill out the application below or find a busker bubble and scan the QR code. You will receive an email with a link to book locations, dates and times that work best for you. There is no interview or audition process required to book a busker bubble in downtown Kingston, however permits are required. 

Busking Permit 

To comply with regulations, all buskers must obtain a Busker Permit from the City of Kingston. The cost for the permit is $42 for one year. Prior to receiving a permit, applicants must carefully review the busking guidelines (77KB) and agree to the terms and conditions before a permit can be issued.  

*Note: as part of a Busking Permit, busking is allowed downtown all summer except for the weekend of Kingston Buskers Rendezvous. To busk in this festival, an application must be submitted to the festival through the Downtown Kingston website and accepted by the festival.  

What talents are considered for Busker Bubbles? 

Busking has a long history and can be found in many cultures worldwide. It allows artists to showcase their skills, gain exposure, and potentially earn income while providing entertainment to the public. It is a unique form of artistic expression that thrives on the spontaneity and direct interaction between the performer and the audience. Musicians, jugglers, magicians, dancers, and artists are encouraged to apply for a Busker Bubble.
