Reading How to Help 3 minutes Next Welcoming Streets
The success of the Welcoming Streets program is within the meaningful connections made with clients, business owners, partners, and community members in the downtown region. We recognize that in order for us to be successful in our roles, we must work collaboratively within the sector and community as a whole. If you are keen to take an actively role in supporting our community we invite you to peruse our suggestions below. Thank you for joining us in Caring for Community Together

  1. Be compassionate: In your interactions with vulnerable community members and when reaching out for support. We recognize that when individuals are experiencing mental health or addiction related challenges, that it might feel unsettling or frightening to others. Remain calm, use the 'who to call' poster, and remember that we are all simply people navigating our own challenges.

  2. Donate supplies: While on outreach our team distributes a variety of necessities including snacks, water and juice, socks, hygiene products, and seasonally appropriate clothing (tshirts, gloves, hats, coats, etc). As a not-for-profit program, we rely heavily on both monetary and in-kind donations to ensure our team is well equipped to support our community. In-Kind donations can be coordinated via email to welcome@downtownkingston.ca. Click here to view the current supply wishlist.

If you would prefer to make a monetary donation you can do so with (Credit card?) at this link. For inquiries regarding sponsorship please reach out to welcome@downtownkingston.ca
