Downtown Kingston is collaborating with representatives from the local Indigenous community on an upcoming outdoor art installation featuring life-sized artwork & stories reflecting traditional stories from the local Indigenous culture specific to the winter season.

We are looking for Indigenous Artists and Storytellers to work with us. This is a commissioned project with funds for the artists and their materials as well as the storytellers.

Northern Lights Display & Winter Storytelling
Downtown Kingston is inviting local/regional Indigenous artists and storytellers to submit proposals for an upcoming Northern Lights/Winter Storytelling Installation ‘Waawaateg’.The main components of the installation will be an artistic expression of the Northern Lights in the fountain at Confederation Park and five art installations as expressions of Indigenous winter stories. This call for artists is specific to the five art installations. Art pieces will be a visual representation of the stories which would be available on the downtown Kingston Website. Each art installation will have a QR code to allow the visitor to hear the audio story on their mobile device while enjoying the installation.
